Broadmoor Shopping Center sold

The 125,000-square-foot Broadmoor Shopping Center has been sold for $1.5 million. Broadmoor Shopping Center Redevelopment LLC bought the buildings, says Colin Smith of Kurz & Hebert Commercial Real Estate. Smith represented the sellers, Broadmoor Village Inc., headed by Marion Cangelosi. Plans are to redevelop the center by putting a new skin on the building and bringing in new tenants, Smith says. Austin Earhart of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate represented the buyers. Broadmoor is about 40% occupied, Smith says. One of the main tenants is Family Dollar. —Timothy Boone

Baton Rouge Today
The Pulse of Baton Rouge

As a retired lawyer who raises dogs, Dalora Prather is concerned that the latest rewrite of the city-parish dog ordinance proposed by Councilman Mike Walker may give too much power to city-parish dog catchers. “If anything needs to be euthanized, it’s these amendments,” Prather said Friday.

Best Friend

Bob, a fisherman, takes one vitamin B-1 tablet a day April through October .

He said it works. He was right.
The odor the tablet gives out through your skin (YOU can not smell it) repels mosquitoes, black flies,
no seeum's, and knat's.

It does not work on stinging insects.

Hasn't had a mosquito bit in 33 years. Try it.
Every one he has talked into trying it works on them.

ALERT...

DEAD Birds

What do I do with them?

Who do I contact if I find one?

Types of birds that are being tested by the Louisiana Dept. of Health & Hospitals are: bluejays, cardinals, crackles, crows, sea gulls and sparrows.  The birds cannot be tested once decomposition has set in (this would be evidenced by the carcass being eaten by ants, etc.).

According to personnel with LDHH, the carcass must be “fresh”.  The carcass should be double-bagged in zip-lock bags and immediately frozen.  The suggested process is to pick the bird up with the zip-lock bags, turned inside-out.  Or, you can pick the bird up with napkins or gloves.  The frozen carcass should be delivered to 353 N. 12th St.

For hours and additional information, call 242-4860, Ext. #5.
